Stats

Hearts, stamina, combat stats, and Spirit Orbs — how your OC's health, energy, and upgrades work in Roots of the Wild.

At a Glance

The four core stat systems in Roots

Hearts track health and KO status. Stamina fuels crafting, travel, and mounts. Attack & Defense come from equipped gear in combat. Spirit Orbs are exchanged for permanent heart or stamina upgrades.

Hearts & Recovery

Health points and how to heal

Hearts are your OC's health points. Everyone starts with three. When an OC gets hurt through group mechanics, they lose hearts and may eventually KO.

  • Starting amount is 3 hearts.
  • If KO'd, characters lose all hearts.
  • As of 6/20/2023, characters no longer fully recover hearts on Sundays.
  • Used in daily looting rolls, blood moon rolls, combat events, and traveling.
  • Characters do not die upon losing all hearts.

Recovery

Characters can recover hearts by utilizing the Healing Job Perk or by consuming health restoring items such as meals, fairies, and elixirs.

KO status can only be healed by fairies, or Healers.

To heal with an item, use the /item command and fill in the required fields.

Stamina

Energy for crafting, travel, and mounts

Stamina represents an OC's ability to perform tasks like cooking, weaving, taming wild mounts, or traveling long distances. Unlike hearts, stamina recovers gradually — manage it well, because a Blacksmith who just finished forging may not fare as well catching a horse as a fully rested character.

  • Starting amount is 5 chunks, or 1 wheel.
  • Recovers naturally once per day, only on days not being used.
  • Does not replenish in full on Sundays.
  • May also be recovered with Stamina Recovery Items.
  • Mount stamina recovers just like player stamina.
  • Used in crafting, healing, traveling, and mount encounters.

Recovery Rules

Tinglebot restores stamina automatically. If all chunks are used up, wait for recovery once per day when the weatherbot posts — no crafting during recovery days.

After crafting with all stamina, you recover one chunk per rest day. Crafting again before a full day of rest pauses recovery until you take a full day off from crafting.

To refill all chunks, you need several consecutive days without crafting. Use a chunk, wait a day, repeat.

Attack & Defense

Combat stats from equipped gear

Your character's combat effectiveness comes from Attack and Defense. These stats work together to help you survive, win battles, and secure better rewards.

  • How It HelpsBetter monster odds, more raid damage, and improved loot quality.

Defense

  • What It DoesReduces incoming damage and boosts survivability.
  • Where It Comes FromArmor (head, chest, legs) and shields — each piece adds modifierHearts to Defense.
