Jobs and Vouchers
Every OC's livelihood in Roots of the Wild — job perks, village exclusives, changing jobs, and Job Vouchers.
About Jobs
Your OC's main role in the village
A job is the main thing your OC will do to get by within the world of Roots, and may have mechanics and perks attached!
OCs may also have hobbies, talents and interests beyond their official chosen job. If you're in doubt about what's allowed, please ask a mod.
Some jobs come with perks which allow them to participate in special mechanics.
Recent updates
- As of 6/4/2025, the Minstrel and Performer roles have been combined into a single job: Entertainer.
- Animal Breeder (Live and Meat) has been combined into one new job, Rancher.

Changing Jobs
Still not too sure about what job you want your character to be even though you've already chosen one? No need to fret! Characters are allowed to change their jobs once every 30 days! It's as simple as going to #community-board and using the command /character-changejob. Please keep village exclusive jobs in mind when switching, since you cannot switch to a job that is exclusive to your non-native village.
Job Vouchers
Try another job for a day with a voucher item
Job Vouchers
Job Vouchers are items that let you try out other jobs!
Job Vouchers will be stored in your inventory just like any other item. You may use a Job Voucher any time you like, gaining an extra roll for the day using whatever Job Mechanic you desire, provided it's available in the village you are in! When you use a Job Voucher, you will keep all that you earn from this job, but also any consequences, such as a loss of hearts or use of Stamina from crafting, so plan accordingly!
Please note, you can spend your Job Voucher to roll your normal job twice, but that would be a waste of the opportunity. Job Vouchers may also be traded between characters or sold should you not wish to use them!
- Job Vouchers can only be used for crafting tasks that require 5 or less stamina.
- Job Vouchers cannot be used for appraisal tasks.
How to Use a Job Voucher
These commands are typed directly in Discord where Tinglebot is active. Make use of the 🔔》#community-board or relevant 🔔》#townhall channel according to your OC's location.
/item — To use any item in Roots, including Job Vouchers, use this command.
/cancelvoucher — Cancels an active Job Voucher on your chosen OC.
After using the /item command, fill out the following fields:
- Character Name: This field will give you a list of your active OCs. Pick the one you are using the Job Voucher with.
- Item Name: Type "Job Voucher". It will allow you to select it from the menu.
- Quantity: You will use 1 Job Voucher, so input 1.
- Job Name: Exclusively used when activating a Job Voucher. Input the Job you wish to perform.
- Press Enter!
- Once the Job Voucher is active, proceed to the Townhall Channel your OC is currently in and use the command associated with your Job Voucher job.
Wait! No! Wrong Job!
When you have a Job Voucher activated, you will not be able to perform your regular job until you have used the Voucher. Should you become stuck like this, fret not! Not all is lost!
If you chose the wrong job, or you don't have enough stamina or materials to perform the crafting job you wanted to do, use the /cancelvoucher command and select the OC with the active Voucher. The Voucher will be returned to your inventory, and you will be able to roll your regular job once again.
