Job Perk: Boosting

Active job perk mechanic — boost and assist other characters in daily jobs, rolls, and more.

What Is Boosting?

Short-term buffs from specialized job characters

Boosting is an active Job Perk mechanic for Roots of the Wild. It lets specialized characters grant powerful temporary effects to others during crafting, gathering, looting, travel, and more.

Request and accept boosts in Discord with /boosting, or use the dashboard Healing & Boosts page — both paths share the same request IDs and validation.

Supported boosting jobs: Entertainer, Fortune Teller, Teacher, Priest, and Scholar. As of 6/4/2025, Minstrel and Performer were combined into Entertainer.

Jobs with this perk

  • Entertainer
  • Fortune Teller
  • Teacher
  • Priest
  • Scholar

Quick reference

  • Discord categories: Looting, Gathering, Crafting, Healer, Stealing, Tokens, Traveling, Mounts, Vending
  • Dashboard categories: Looting, Gathering, Crafting, Healer, Stealing, Tokens, Traveling (no Mounts/Vending on the form)
  • Village: Both characters must share the same current village when requesting or accepting
  • Cost: Booster spends 1 stamina on accept; /boosting other also costs 1 stamina from the performer
  • Pending requests expire after 48 hours if not accepted
  • Active boosts last 24 hours or until used — most categories consume the boost on first use
  • One at a time: A character cannot have another pending or accepted boost
  • Healer boosts: Boost the healer performing the action, not the KO'd patient
  • Scholar Gathering: Set the optional village field (Discord) or Scholar target village (dashboard)
  • Job vouchers: Boosters can use a voucher to act as a boost job; Crafting boosts from Teacher or Entertainer may need two vouchers — see Job Vouchers below

What /boosting Does

One slash command, five subcommands

When you use /boosting (or the dashboard Healing & Boosts page), the bot lets members request short-term buffs, lets boosters approve them, and keeps everything organized automatically.

  • Creates a Request ID and pings the booster so nothing gets lost
  • On accept: spends 1 stamina from the booster; boost stays active 24 hours or until used
  • Posts embeds with full details so everyone can follow along
  • Other effects (weather, Song of Storms) use /boosting other — not the request category list
  • Allows checking or cancelling a request at any point

Passive perks like Entertainer's Ballad of the Goddess (RP quest tokens) cannot be triggered manually — they apply automatically when conditions are met.

Dashboard — Healing & Boosts

Discord command

Healing & Boosts

  • Create boost requests with target, booster, and category — same rules as Discord
  • Accept pending boosts you own as the booster character
  • Categories on the form: Looting, Gathering, Crafting, Healer, Stealing, Tokens, Traveling
  • Scholar Gathering: fill Scholar target village on the form
  • Request IDs and embeds still flow through Discord for visibility

Request a Boost

Discord command

/boosting request character:[your OC] booster:[booster OC] category:[category] village:[optional — Scholar Gathering]

  • CharacterYour OC who needs the boost (you must own them)
  • BoosterThe character granting the boost (can belong to another member)
  • CategoryLooting, Gathering, Crafting, Healer, Stealing, Tokens, Traveling, Mounts, or Vending
  • VillageRequired for Scholar Gathering — choose the remote village table
  • Creates a Request ID and pings the booster's owner (accept within 48 hours)

Accept a Request

Discord command

/boosting accept requestid:[ID] character:[booster OC name]

  • Booster's owner runs this in Discord, or accepts from the dashboard board
  • Bot spends 1 stamina from the booster and activates the boost
  • Posts a Boost Applied embed — active for 24 hours or until used

Check Status

Discord command

/boosting status charactername:[your OC name]

  • Shows active boost effect, booster, time remaining, and end time
  • Pending requests show who was asked and time until the request expires
  • Expired boosts are cleared automatically when you check

Trigger Other Boosts

Discord command

/boosting other charactername:[your OC] effect:[Fortune Teller or Entertainer] village:[optional]

  • Fortune Teller — Weather PredictionFortune Tellers can run this directly; others need an active Other-category boost
  • Entertainer — Song of StormsEntertainers can run this directly without a prior boost
  • Costs 1 stamina from the character performing the effect
  • Village hint is optional for weather; Song of Storms always picks a random village
  • Once the effect fires, any linked boost is marked fulfilled

Cancel a Request

Discord command

/boosting cancel requestid:[ID] or charactername:[your OC]

  • You must own the character who requested the boost
  • Cannot cancel fulfilled, expired, or already cancelled requests
  • If the boost was active, clears tracking so the character can request again

Requesting a Boost

Discord or dashboard

  1. 1In Discord, run /boosting request — or open Healing & Boosts and use Open boost form.
  2. 2Fill in Character (your OC), Booster (who will boost), and Category.
  3. 3For Scholar Gathering, also set Village / Scholar target village to the remote gather table you want.
  4. 4Submit — the bot creates a Request ID, posts an embed, and pings the booster's owner.
  • You must own the character asking for the boost
  • Both characters must be in the same village
  • The booster's job must offer that category
  • The requesting character cannot already have a pending or active boost

Booster Accepting

How the booster activates the buff

  • Booster's owner runs /boosting accept in Discord, or accepts from the dashboard pending list.
  • Enter the requestid (autocomplete or copy from the embed) and character (booster OC name).
  • Submit — the bot confirms ownership, checks job vs. category, spends 1 stamina, and activates the boost.
  • Job voucher on acceptIf the booster had an active Job Voucher, it is consumed when they accept (except Teacher Crafting keeps a manual two-voucher flow).

Crafting boosts from a Teacher via voucher or a non-Entertainer boosting Song of Double Time need a second Job Voucher before the target crafts — see Job Vouchers.

Using /boosting other

Fortune Teller weather and Entertainer Song of Storms

Weather Prediction and Song of Storms are not request categories — they are fired with /boosting other after you have the right job (or an accepted Other-category boost from that job).

  • Fortune Teller — Weather PredictionA Fortune Teller runs /boosting other on their own OC. Reveals tomorrow's forecast for Rudania, Inariko, or Vhintl (optional village; otherwise random). Costs 1 stamina.
  • Entertainer — Song of StormsAn Entertainer runs /boosting other without any prior boost. Schedules special weather for the next day; village is always random. Costs 1 stamina.
  • Non-job characters need an accepted boost tied to the correct booster job before /boosting other will work.
  • Exact village and weather for Song of Storms stay hidden until town halls post the next day's forecast.

Job Vouchers & Boosting

When one voucher is enough — and when Crafting needs two

A Job Voucher lets a character temporarily perform another job. For boosting, the booster’s effective job while the voucher is active is what determines which boosts they can grant.

When a booster accepts a boost, their active Job Voucher is usually consumed immediately — the boost record stores their job for the 24-hour window. Teacher Crafting is the main exception: both vouchers are activated manually by the booster.

The dashboard Healing & Boosts form shows a Two Job Vouchers (Crafting) warning when you pick a booster who will need the second-voucher flow.

  1. 1Booster activates a Job Voucher via /item for the boost job they will provide (e.g. Teacher or Entertainer).
  2. 2Target requests a Crafting boost; booster accepts — this spends 1 stamina and uses up the first voucher.
  3. 3Booster activates a second Job Voucher of the same job via /item before the target runs /crafting.
  4. 4Target crafts — the boost applies (Teacher stamina split or Song of Double Time). The second voucher is consumed when the craft succeeds.
  • Teacher + Crafting (booster on voucher)Permanent job is not Teacher, but they are boosting via a Teacher voucher. Needs two Teacher vouchers — accept uses the first; /item the second before the student crafts.
  • Entertainer + Crafting (Song of Double Time, non-native)Permanent job is not Entertainer. Needs two Entertainer vouchers — accept uses the first; /item the second before the boosted character crafts.
  • Native job boostersA permanent Teacher or Entertainer boosting their own job’s Crafting effect does not need a second voucher.
  • Unrelated vouchers do not countA Cook voucher on a native Entertainer does not trigger the two-voucher Crafting flow — only when the voucher job matches the boost job and differs from the permanent job.
  • Other boost categoriesFor non-Crafting boosts, one voucher (or native job) is typically enough; accepting still consumes an active voucher.
  • Fortune Teller / Entertainer OtherYou can use a Job Voucher to temporarily become that job for /boosting other (weather or Song of Storms) without a separate boost request.

If the target crafts before the booster activates the second voucher, crafting is blocked and materials are refunded — the booster must run /item with another voucher first.

Special Cases

Why some boosts work differently and how to use them

Scholar Gathering (Cross-Region Insight)

Gather from another village's table without traveling

When requesting, pick Gathering as the category and set the village option (Discord) or Scholar target village (dashboard). After acceptance, your character can gather from that village's table while staying in their current location — until the boost is used or expires.

If you forget the village option, the request fails — the bot doesn't know which gather table to use.

Healer Category Boosts

Boost the healer, not the patient

For all Healer boosts, you must boost the healer who will perform the action — not the character who is KO'd or debuffed.

  • Priest — Spiritual CleanseBoost the healer reviving or treating the patient
  • Entertainer — Song of HealingBoost the healer performing the revival
  • Fortune Teller — Predictive HealingBoost the healer before their next healing action
  • Scholar — Efficient RecoveryBoost the healer performing the action
  • Teacher — Temporary FortitudeBoost the healer applying the buff

Request Gets Blocked If…

  • Character names are wrong or you don't own the target character
  • Characters cannot boost themselves
  • Booster's job doesn't provide that category, or you're trying to trigger a passive perk manually
  • Target already has a pending or accepted boost
  • Scholar Gathering boosts are missing the village / target village option
  • Booster has less than 1 stamina when accepting

Common Problems & Timers

Quick fixes and windows to remember

Character not found

Double-check spelling and make sure you own the character you entered.

Not enough stamina

The booster needs at least 1 stamina to accept a boost or perform /boosting other.

Booster must use second voucher first

For Teacher or Entertainer Crafting boosts when the booster is on a voucher (or not a native Entertainer): the booster must activate a second Job Voucher via /item before the target runs /crafting. Accept already consumed the first voucher.

Village mismatch

Move both characters into the same village before requesting.

No boost available

Switch to a booster whose job supports that category.

Scholar gathering missing village

Fill in the village option when requesting a Scholar Gathering boost.

Request expired

Pending requests expire after 48 hours if not accepted — start a new request.

KO debuff still active after Priest boost

You boosted the wrong character — boost the healer who will revive your OC, not the debuffed patient.

Song of Storms ignored my village

Song of Storms always picks a random village; manual entries only appear in the embed for clarity.

Timers to remember

  • Pending requests expire after 48 hours if no one accepts.
  • Active boosts last 24 hours once accepted, or until first use (whichever comes first).
  • Cancelling immediately frees the character so you can request again.
  • Other effects (weather, Song of Storms) end as soon as the effect fires and mark the boost fulfilled.
