Daily forecasts, village climates, and special weather events

A unique feature in Roots of the Wild is the daily weather system. Every day at 8:00 AM Eastern (EST/EDT), Tinglebot posts the day's weather in each village town hall channel.

Weather is generated from the real-world season and each village's climate weights — so Rudania runs hotter, Inariko sees more snow, and Vhintl stays humid and storm-prone.

Most weather is flavor for roleplay and jobs, but when conditions line up, Special Weather can appear — with travel blocks, blight exposure, lightning risk, or a /specialweather gather roll.

How Tinglebot forecasts work

Each village gets its own forecast every period. Temperature, wind, precipitation, and optional Special Weather are rolled from that village's season table and climate weights.

Posts appear in the village town hall channels with a banner image. Special weather may also update the town hall channel name with a hint emoji.

Village Climates

How Rudania, Inariko, and Vhintl shape daily forecasts

Tinglebot rolls each village's weather from its own climate table — temperature, wind, precipitation, and rare specials all weight differently.

Rudania

Warm highland savannah framed by cliffs and volcanic soil

General Climate

Warm and golden, resembling a highland savannah — sunlit grasslands, scattered trees, and seasonal rains, framed by cliffs and warmed by volcanic proximity.

  • Humidity: Moderate — enough for farming, not oppressive.
  • Temperature swings: Warm days, cool nights; volcanic gusts can spike heat.
  • Terrain: Cliff valley between a volcano and a lake; fertile volcanic soil.

Seasons

  • Summer: Sun-drenched; dry heat from volcanic winds. Cinder Storm is possible.
  • Winter: Mild; rain more likely than snow. Rare Cinder Storm or ashfall during high volcanic activity.
  • Vibe: Golden skies, festivals, fire, and fertile soil.

Inariko

Cool alpine canyon life beneath Mount Lanayru

General Climate

Cool and alpine, shaped by cold winds from Mount Lanayru. Built into a steep canyon, the village stays damp and shaded, with river mists and seasonal snow.

  • Humidity: High near the waterline; morning fog is common year-round.
  • Temperature swings: Cool year-round; colder the higher you climb the canyon.
  • Terrain: Ancient waterway between cliffs; snowmelt feeds the river.

Seasons

  • Summer: Cool and misty; brief warmth on western winds.
  • Winter: Long and snowy — blizzards, heavy snow, and Avalanche risk.
  • Vibe: Stillness, wisdom, and crisp mountain air.

Vhintl

Subtropical rainforest canopy and endless humidity

General Climate

Subtropical rainforest — lush, vibrant, and teeming with life. Warm and muggy in summer, wet and foggy in winter, with constant humidity and canopy rainfall.

  • Humidity: Extremely high — the forest breathes moisture.
  • Temperature swings: Stable under the canopy; hot sticky summers, cooler wet winters.
  • Terrain: High jungle basin; thunderstorms from warm sea air meeting northern winds.

Seasons

  • Summer: Hot, humid, insects, storms, and blooming canopy life.
  • Winter: Cooler but still green — rain, mist, and Lightning Storm weather.
  • Vibe: Stormlight, fog, and wings rustling in the trees.

Special Weather

Rare events that can block travel, expose blight, or unlock a gather roll

Special Weather goes beyond ordinary rain or shine. When it appears in the daily forecast, it lasts for that weather period (until the next 8:00 AM Eastern post) and can affect travel, blight exposure, lightning strikes, or loot opportunities.

Seven specials have a /specialweather loot pool (Fairy Circle, Flower Bloom, Jubilee, Meteor Shower, Muggy, plus Avalanche and Rock Slide for road-clearing). Flood, Blight Rain, Drought, and Lightning Storm are hazard-only — the command shows an advisory, not loot.

Use /specialweather for loot — any job, once per village per period. Includes road-clearing events (Avalanche, Rock Slide) that also block travel.

  • If you already did a daily activity roll, you may combine special weather flavor with it or roll separately for RP.

The /specialweather Command

Gather during active special weather

When a village has active special weather with a loot pool, any character physically in that village may roll once per period — including Avalanche and Rock Slide road-clearing events.

Song of Storms (Entertainer Other boost via /boosting other) guarantees special weather for the following period. Optionally pick Rudania, Inariko, or Vhintl — or leave the village random. The special type (including Lightning Storm) is randomly rolled from what's feasible that season; only one scheduled special per village per period.
