Care for stored pets and mounts at village stables — daily pay, training, grooming, and monthly commission.
Village stable care for stored pets and mounts
Stablehands are characters with the permanent Stablehand job who care for stored pets and mounts at village stables. Owners board companions on the My Companions dashboard; stablehands keep them happy with /stable care, /stable train, and /stable groom on Discord.
Storage fees, retrieve fees, and marketplace actions live on the dashboard. Stablehand gameplay is Discord-first — one daily care roll covers the whole village yard, and any stablehand in that village can work any boarded companion there.

Quick reference
/stable care first cares for everyone that day/economy giftVillage stable yards, daily pay, and owner board fees
Stablehands maintain the village stable yard where owners board pets and mounts. Skipping care hurts companion happiness, which lowers owner board fees and stablehand commission.
Job, village, and profile checks
/stable care or /stable train/stable care per stablehand per day — resets midnight EasternStable care is strictly per village. An Inariko stablehand only runs commands on companions in the Inariko yard.
Care · train · groom
Once per stablehand per day (midnight Eastern). With companions in the yard, roll 1d20 once for the whole village — every boarded pet and mount gets the same happiness change.

Each character has their own stall storage under My Companions. Pets and mounts share those slots — you cannot fill every slot with only mounts or only pets.
Capacity depends on the character's home village level: level 1 → 3 stalls · level 2 → 4 · level 3 → 5. That is separate from the village yard stablehands work in — owners store companions into the shared village yard, but slot limits are per character.
0–100 scale · affects training, fees, and commission
Happiness ranges 0–100 (default 70 when stored). See Pets for treat items, roll bonuses, and active-companion decay.
/stable train that day/pet treatOwner fees on the 1st · stablehand commission
On the 1st of each month (Eastern), owner board fees autopay from each owner's token balance for every stored slot from the previous month. Base fee: 100 tokens per slot, adjusted by average happiness.
If an owner can't cover the full bill, the system deducts what it can and records the remainder as board debt — balances never go negative. They must clear debt on My Companions before retrieving or listing stored companions for sale. See Stables → Fees for the full owner billing guide.
Player tokens vs. goods and services in RP
Stablehand daily wages and monthly commission are meta — they credit player tokens to your Discord account automatically when you run commands and when owners pay board fees. Think of them as the village ledger keeping the job viable in gameplay, not a sack of coins your OC is physically carrying home from the stable.
In the world of Roots, stablehands are compensated through goods and services arranged between players. The bot does not enforce how you flavor that — you and your scene partners decide what “paid” looks like in RP.
/stable care and /stable train, plus month-end commission from owner board fees — all land as player tokens/economy gift *are* tangible in-world goods your stablehand spends when they train or groom — stock your inventory through RP trades, gifts, or gatheringStablehand cannot be vouchered
The Stablehand job is permanent and cannot be accessed through Job Vouchers. See Jobs & Vouchers for general voucher rules on other jobs.
When care fails or companions decline
Owners must /economy gift the right items to your stablehand (carrots/grains for hoofed mounts, raw meat for carnivore pets, etc.). You need 1 item per boarder per successful training day.
Owners gift the full groom offering (e.g. 10× Armoranth for a horse coat change) to your stablehand before you run /stable groom.
Care resets at midnight Eastern. One /stable care per stablehand per day — but only one care roll needed per village. /stable train is once per boarder per day.
Yes. 5 tokens daily upkeep even with an empty yard, plus +5 per companion in the village yard (before roll multiplier). Consistent care builds your monthly commission.
Your OC needs the permanent Stablehand job and a home village (Rudania, Inariko, or Vhintl).
Run /stable care every day — or make sure some stablehand in the village does. When care is missed: −3/day if the village has stablehands, −5/day if none.
Monthly board autopays on the 1st. If they didn't have enough tokens, the unpaid portion is board debt. They use Pay on My Companions before retrieve or listing stored companions — see Stables.
You need 20+ care days that month. Happiness tier also scales your cut — consistent great care pays best.
Capacity is 3 / 4 / 5 stalls at home village levels 1 / 2 / 3. Retrieve or sell from an accessible stall, or raise your village level.
Village level dropped while companions were stored. Locked companions stay until your home village reaches the required level again.
