A chronicle of known history — after the Blight.
The Story So Far…
Over a millennia has passed since the days of great heroes and princesses set to defend the kingdom of Hyrule from great forces of evil, and much has been lost. The Triforce's holders no longer reincarnate, knowledge of their great strides long since eroded from history. In current times, only three villages are known to remain: Rudania, Inariko, and Vhintl. The great plague and contaminator known as Blight has claimed much of the world's surface and many lives. In a world with no heroes, lost history, and only minimal cultural memory, Hyruleans simply live their lives surviving day to day, some seeking to rebuild on the foundations of a ravaged world and perhaps even someday reclaim what lies beyond the blight.
What lies before you is a chronicle of the known history of Hyrule... After the Blight.

Pools of Malice, with which contact would make Hyrulians sick, mutated into a contagion known as Blight. This force infected waterways, animals, monsters, and people, causing a gradual worldwide devastation. Hyrule is reduced to only three known villages watched over by guardian spirits, each thinking they are the only survivors.

Just under a century ago, the Great Deku Tree of the Korok Forest died as the Blight inevitably breached the sacred grounds. Koroks and fairies living in the forest at this time were forced to flee or perish. Those who escaped either on their own or with the help of the Great Dragon Foras would carry with them blessed korok seeds that would ensure future generations. Before passing, the Great Deku Tree would grant Koroks the ability to take a Kokiri form.

After gradual hard work and perseverance from villagers across Hyrule, roads connecting the three known villages are established for the first time in a thousand years, starting with Rudania and ending with Vhintl. The roads were still dangerous and travel parties were far more likely to make it to their destination unscathed versus an individual traveling alone, but many jumped at the opportunity to reconnect with their long-lost neighbors.

Seemingly possessed, blighted crops and scarecrows spring up around Hyrule and a handful of Hyruleans are plagued by sleepless nights filled with creeping shadows. All of which comes to a climax during a Blood Moon that is eerily devoid of monsters for all but those who stepped through the doors summoned by both Key and Candle they'd collected. The unfortunate chosen few spend the Blood Moon barely surviving a mysterious crypt devoid of life and filled to the brim with poes, ghosts and blight alike. The treasures they return with being the only evidence that any of it actually happened.

Every 500 years the malice that now covers Hyrule blooms. It grows and becomes more aggressive for a short while. During this period a Blight Bloom occurred in which blight overtook much of the roads again and even encroached on the very edges of the villages making the gathering of resources difficult. Monsters become more dangerous than ever and many travelers to other villages become displaced as the roads are closed again.

The Resonance occurs. After an especially grueling blood moon where Blight infection and Blighted monsters threatened to wipe out Hyrule's remaining civilizations, beacons of golden light could be seen reaching towards the heavens. First from Vhintl, then Inariko and lastly Rudania as the Oracle of Courage awakened at last and resonated with the other Oracles and, as a result, all good living things, curing the afflicted and once again establishing a blight-free perimeter around each village.

From Rudania, an urgent request for ancient materials is sent out, and the three villages gathered for a month with the goal of donating these materials to the Oracle of Power, Aemu. It was in the aftermath of these trials that the mysterious masked gravekeeper of Rudania who built the device told the truth of his race and his home — that he is really a twili from the Twilight Realm who had been tasked with using the ancient materials to build a portal that was intended to be used by a vengeful Twili Monarchy to invade the Light Realm, Hyrule. The device however had been intentionally altered to prevent this fate instead.

A child appears at the edge of Inariko, barefoot and shivering despite the biting cold. They look to be around 7 or 8 years old, dressed in tattered rags and clutching a small, worn object close to their chest. Their bright eyes seemed distant, unfocused, as if they'd been looking at something — or someone — that no one else could see. Shrouded in mystery, they are brought to a temple of Nayru, and dubbed "Hibiki". Their strange broken whispers prompt a wave of research into something called the "Triforce".

Unknown to each other, the villages of Vhintl and Inariko face a crisis at the same time. Red-clad figures can be sighted in both villages. In Vhintl, there's a sudden rush of these intruders as they push in through Vhintl's borders, stirring enough chaos that they hurt several villagers, and manage to kidnap a visiting woman from Rudania named Tai. As the Vhintlians who witnessed this prepare to find her, Inariko finds itself similarly attacked by these new threats. When the villagers of Inariko fight them off, several make the choice to go visit Nihme and inform her of what was going on. From there, they talk of doubling down on their efforts to hunt for information on these people.

The red-clad figures are here once more, and seem to have been expecting them. As the assumed leader of these figures steps out to talk to the group, a man named Beckett, friend of Tai, is chosen to speak for them. The leader-figure asks several things. How many dragons exist. How many oracles. And lastly, the leader asks that the child from Inariko is returned to them. Through Beckett's skillful negotiating and talking, the leader of the red-clad group lets Tai go, and says that the child may remain in Inariko for now. The red-clad group retreats, and the stronghold itself dissolves into ash…

After the unsettling attacks made against Rudania, Inariko, and Vhintl, all three villages mobilize to learn more about the red-clad figures who have been instigating so much chaos and strife. During these searches, the villagers learn many varying things about their home villages and see some truly phenomenal fish prints along the way. But what they all find in time is the explicit mention of the name Yiga, associated with a cult that worships and embraces the Blight. Talks of children of prophecy, of things that could fundamentally change the world as everyone knows it… Right now, it's all just rumor and speculation. But it does point to something much more ominous—that the Yiga may have networks or a presence that spans well across the territory outside the safety of all three villages. No one knows what will come next…
