Quest months run every other month. New quests are posted in πγquests-board and as a blog post on the site.
Sign-ups use Tinglebot β /quest join must be run in πγsheikah-slate with questid and charactername.

Events
Large, inescapable occurrences that affect the whole server
Events are large, inescapable occurrences within Roots of the Wild that affect all characters, whether they like it or not! Events will very often cause changes to mechanics β like the weather, daily rolls, and the abilities of some classes to perform their class skill.
Any changes of this magnitude do not go unnoticed, so do not worry β you'll be given warning! While an event is occurring, new temporary mechanics may come into play, so be ready for some new experiences.
Such events are often great fodder for art or roleplay scenarios too, so take full advantage while you can! As is the nature of events in life, in Roots these are temporary β either enjoy the ride, or gather your provisions and camp it out, and either way it will be over before you know it!
How Events Work
Due to the nature of events, each one will have its own custom set of rules and details. As a blanket statement, most quest rules also apply to event rules in some way.
Similar to quests, there are different types of events β be it art or interactive. All rules and information surrounding an event will be clarified at the time of said event.
Quests
Optional timed tasks anyone can join for rewards
In Roots of the Wild, quests are smaller, optional, fun timed tasks anyone can partake in for a nifty reward! Quests take several forms: art, writing, interactive, and roleplay.
Art / writing quests take the form of a prompt you work with, offering a reward for a submission of suitable effort detailed in the quest description β collabs are often allowed!
Interactive quests are usually additional rolls done in one of our community servers. You will often be given a command unique to the quest and follow along as rounds are posted. Rewards tend to be whatever you get from your directed rolls, with additional prizes often tied to finding particular hidden things!
Roleplay quests are larger group roleplays, often with mod direction or at least a mod opening prompt. Rewards are given for adequate participation, but those who go above and beyond will also be given their due!
While these are the usual types, on occasion special quests may happen that take entirely new formats β expect those to be explained in greater detail when they come.
Quests will always have a time limit and will give an explicit date and time for both the start and end of the quest.
How Quests Work
Every other month, when quests occur, they will be posted in the πγquests-board channel, as well as a blog post here on the site!
Sign Ups
Sign ups for all quests are handled through Tinglebot. To sign up, go to πγsheikah-slate and use /quest join with the quest ID from the post and the character you are entering with.
Discord command
Use /quest join in πγsheikah-slate with questid and charactername.
questidRequiredThe quest ID from the quests-board post (example: M28464). Autocomplete shows active quests.
characternameRequiredThe character you are signing up with. You cannot switch OCs later on RP quests.
Use /quest list for active quests and /quest status for your sign-ups. RP / Interactive / RP quests also require your character to be in an allowed quest village at join β you must stay in that village for the whole quest (travel away disqualifies you). Inactive members cannot join until they run /active and pick roles again.
Types of Quests
Art, writing, interactive, and RP β plus combined formats
Tinglebot tracks these quest types. A single post may combine formats β for example Art / Writing quests can require both, either, or one submission depending on how the quest is set up.
- ArtRequires members to create an illustration based on the quest specifications.
- WritingRequires members to write a piece based on the quest specifications.
- InteractiveMod-run events that require interaction β rolling or another method in Discord.
- RPRequires members to RP based on the quest topic within the RP channels of the server.
- Interactive / RPCombines roll requirements with RP post minimums β check the quest post for both.
- Art / WritingCombined art and writing prompts β the post will say whether you need both, either, or one.
Quest Rules
Caps, deadlines, RP requirements, and reward fairness
Member-Capped Quests
- Some quests have a limited number of player slots β these are member-capped quests.
- Tinglebot enforces one capped quest per member at a time. If you are already in another capped quest, join is blocked until you leave.
- A Quest Voucher lets you join when a capped quest is full, but it does not bypass the one-capped-quest rule.
- Use
/quest leaveor/quest withdrawto exit β that immediately frees your capped slot for a different quest.
Example: Three quests each cap at 5 people β pick one. To switch, leave your current capped quest first, then join the other.
Signup Deadlines by Quest Type
Open Signups
- Art, Writing, Interactive, and Art / Writing: No signup deadline in Tinglebot β join any time while the quest is active.
Deadline Applies
- RP and Interactive / RP: Tinglebot closes signups 7 days after the quest post date. After that,
/quest joinis rejected.
RP Quest Participation Rules
- One OC per questTinglebot blocks duplicate sign-ups β one user and one character name per quest. Characters that already left cannot rejoin.
- Post countEach quest sets a minimum (bot default 15 if unspecified). Tinglebot tracks posts in the quest RP thread and reacts with β when a post counts. Missing the minimum by quest end means no rewards.
- Post length (community)Aim for up to 2 paragraphs per post in RP threads. Tinglebot still counts longer posts but may DM you a friendly reminder around ~250 words / ~1,600 characters β those posts still count.
- Village lockYour pledged village at join is stored β traveling away disqualifies you and stops post tracking.
For meta chatter about the quest, use #Gossip stone and #Mossy stone β not the RP thread.
Tinglebot validates posts in the quest RP thread. Invalid posts are skipped β no β reaction, no post count.
Still counts
- Real RP above a turn-order ping β trailing
@user | @user ))lines are stripped first, then the RP body is checked. - Long posts β over ~250 words / ~1,600 characters still count; you may get a friendly length reminder via DM.
Posts that do not count
Too short
- Under 20 charactersAfter turn-order ping lines are removed from the bottom of the post.
Reactions & pings
- Turn-order ping linesLines with multiple
@mentions ending in))β not RP body. - Bare reaction linesOnly
))), or very short acks likelol )).
Media only
- Emoji-only messagesStandard or custom Discord emoji with no RP text.
- GIFs, stickers & attachmentsEmbeds or files without meaningful text in the message body.
Spam patterns
- Numbers or symbols onlyPunctuation-only lines count here too.
- Repeated single wordSame word over and over with no real RP.
- URLs or pings onlyLinks,
@mentions, or#channel tags with no story text. - Keyboard mashing10+ random letters with no real words.
- Low letter ratioLess than 30% letters in the message body.
Special Rewards Rule
If a quest has a special item or bonus that is rolled for, you may only roll for special rewards in the first RP quest you joined. This keeps things fair and prevents people from joining multiple quests just for better odds.
Rewards via Tinglebot
Quest rewards and turn-ins are handled by Tinglebot. For Art and Writing quests, include the quest ID as Quest Event on /submit or in the Dashboard submit forms β the field must match the quest ID from the board (example: M28464).
If the Quest Event / quest ID is missing or wrong, you will not get the quest bonus or automatic quest completion credit.
No Double Dipping
If a quest or event already has a guaranteed reward, you cannot submit that quest content again for additional token rewards. This applies to RP, writing, and art quests.
Example: If an event gives you 10 tokens automatically, you cannot also submit the same work through /submit for more tokens.
Quest Vouchers
Priority access when member-capped quests fill up
Sometimes quests get posted and members are unable to sign up for member-capped ones before they fill up. To make things more fair for those who miss sign ups, the mod team offers a Quest Voucher system.
- EligibilityIf you were unable to participate in 2 consecutive member-capped quests and had previously signed up for them, you are eligible for a Quest Voucher.
- ClaimDM the Admin Account to request a voucher β once granted, Tinglebot sets questVoucher on your character.
- UseOn the next member-capped round,
/quest joinworks even when the quest is full. The voucher is consumed when you join. - Vouchers do not let you join a second capped quest while you are already in one.
Member Quests
Propose and run your own quests for fellow members
Group members are allowed β even encouraged β to come up with their own quests to run for fellow members! Propose and host one using the dashboard. Mods review your proposal and help refine it if needed. Once approved, it posts automatically and you run the quest.
- Rewards must come from your own inventory β mods do not supply items or tokens.
- Maximum duration is 14 days (2 weeks).
- Member quests count toward Spirit Orbs and character slots.
- Interactive quests must include full tableroll table definitions for mod setup.
How to Get Started
- Go to Dashboard β Community β Member Quests.
- Fill out the proposal form: Title, Type (RP / Interactive / Art / Writing), Location(s), Start date, Duration (max 14 days), Rewards, Party size, quest descriptions/rules, and interactive fields like table roll name / required rolls when applicable.
- Optional Sign-up form link if you use an external form instead of
/quest join. Mod-only notes are included in the same form.
Dashboard Page
Everything is handled on the same Member Quests page β there is no separate page.
- TopProposal form β submit a new quest, or edit and resubmit if revisions are requested.
- BelowMy Submissions β all your quests and their status: Pending, Needs Revision, Approved, or Rejected.
- View mod feedback and click Edit and Resubmit when revisions are requested.
Mod Review
- Approve β Quest is accepted.
- Request Revision β Feedback via DM and dashboard notification. Edit and resubmit.
- Reject β Reason shown in the dashboard.
Approved & Posted
- A quest ID is created automatically (example: M28464).
- The quest is posted automatically to the quest channel.
- You do not need to ask a mod to post it.
Running Your Quest
You are responsible for running your quest β posting rounds, managing the thread, and handing out rewards from your inventory. Tinglebot tracks sign-ups and completion the same as mod quests when participants use /quest join.
Sign-Ups for Member Quests
- Default: participants sign up with
/quest joinin Sheikah Slate (same as mod quests). - Optional: link your own external form in the proposal β you handle those sign-ups outside Tinglebot.
Quest Turn-Ins
Redeem every 10 completed quests for a major reward
Once a member has completed a total of 10 quests (including member-run quests), they may turn in those quests for either one Spirit Orb or one Character Slot. This can be done at every 10-quest milestone!
Using /quest turnin
- Check progress with
/quest statsβ each completed quest = 1 pending turn-in. Look for Pending Turn-Ins, Sets Ready, and (if applicable) slot-only credits from Hard Group Art Meme quests. - Go to πγsheikah-slate and run
/quest turnin. - Choose Character Slot (+1 on your account) or Spirit Orb (requires a character).
- Spirit Orb turn-ins only use orb-eligible pending quests β Hard Group Art Meme credits are Character Slot only.
- Confirm β Tinglebot deducts 10 from the correct pool and shows an ephemeral confirmation embed with updated totals.
Discord command
Use /quest turnin β pick Character Slot or Spirit Orb (character required for Spirit Orb).
rewardRequiredCharacter Slot or Spirit Orb.
characterOptionalRequired when choosing Spirit Orb β autocomplete lists only your characters.
Redeem as soon as you hit 10 to keep things tidy β then earn toward your next bundle!
Not enough pending turn-ins
You need at least 10 in the right pool β total pending for Character Slot, orb-eligible pending for Spirit Orb. Run /quest stats to see both.
Spirit Orb blocked but you have 10+ total pending
Some credits are slot-only (Hard Group Art Meme). They count toward Character Slot turn-ins, not Spirit Orbs.
Please specify a character
Spirit Orb rewards require a character β pick one from autocomplete.
Duplicate redemption
Each bundle of 10 can only be redeemed once. Check Sets Ready on /quest stats.
Legacy Quests
Pre-bot quest credit β transfer window closed
Quests you finished before October 1, 2025 were legacy quests. Tinglebot has tracked new completions automatically since that date.
Members had until January 1, 2026 for a one-time /quest transfer in πγsheikah-slate β entering total (all pre-bot quests completed) and pending (unredeemed turn-ins). That window is closed. /quest transfer is no longer available.
If you did not import before January 1, 2026, uncredited legacy quests cannot be recovered. Those completion credits and turn-ins are lost permanently.
The legacy import deadline was January 1, 2026. Contact the admin account only if you believe your transfer was recorded incorrectly β new legacy imports are not accepted.
- Already transferred? Run
/quest statsβ legacy totals appear under Legacy Transfer. Use/quest turninfor any pending legacy turn-ins you still have banked. - Missed the deadline? Preβ${LEGACYQUESTTRACKING_START} quests that were never imported cannot be added retroactively.
- Since ${LEGACY_QUEST_TRACKING_START}All quest completions are tracked automatically β no manual import needed.
